What to see at Lake Okotampe

Lake Okotanpe Observation Deck

It's about a 20-minute drive from Shikotsuko Onsen towards Sapporo.
Lake Okotanpe was formed when lava from the eruption of Mount Eniwa dammed a river. It's a small lake with a circumference of about 5km and is counted as one of Hokkaido's three most remote lakes.
Depending on the weather and sunlight, the lake changes colour to emerald green or cobalt blue, making it seem like a work of art created by nature. The area around the lake is designated as a special protected area of the national park, and entry is strictly prohibited.
