About Park Volunteers
● What are park volunteers?
Park volunteers are volunteers who cooperate and work voluntarily with a passion to protect the national park environment, convey its charm to many people, and preserve its precious natural environment for future generations.
Registered by the Director of the Regional Environmental Office of the Ministry of the Environment, there are 48 park volunteers active at Lake Shikotsu (as of April 2019).
● What do they do?
To maintain the natural environment within the park, they carry out cleaning activities and remove invasive plants. To help people enjoy Lake Shikotsu even more, nature observation events are also held each season.
